AILET 2018 Paper Analysis

Overview

  • The exam was timed for 1 hour 30 minutes carrying 150 marks.
  • The test includes 5 sections: Mathematics, English, Logical reasoning, Legal aptitude and Constitution, GK and Current Affairs.
  • The marks distribution was as follows: Mathematics-10 Logical Reasoning-35, English-35, GK and Current affairs-35, Legal aptitude and Constitution- 35.
  • There was negative marking of one-fourth of a mark for each incorrect attempt.
  • This year Maths turned out to be the toughest section with types of questions never seen before.

Section I-Mathematics

  • Maths turned out to be the toughest section with types of questions never seen before.
  • The section was containing 10 questions.

Section II- English

  • The English section surprisingly did not see any Reading Comprehension passages compared to the previous year. Further, the section carried more questions related to idioms, grammatical errors and General English.
  • The section was containing 35 questions from different areas.

Section III- Logical Reasoning

  • The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It may include a variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc.
  • This section became lengthiest due to puzzles.
  • The section was containing reasoning based 35 questions.

Section IV- Legal Aptitude and Constitution

  • Legal Aptitude section comprising Legal General Knowledge questions came out to be easy but Legal Reasoning turned out to be the lengthiest. AILET 2018 takers had a tough time answering the Legal Reasoning questions.
  • The section was containing 35 questions from different areas.

Section V- GK and Current Affairs

  • Moving onto the Current Affairs section from General Knowledge,
  • Questions in General Knowledge came majorly from Current Affairs sections, where the events were as recent as those happened in the months of May first week.
  • The AILET 2018 takers needed to keep themselves updated with the most recent happenings.The section was containing 35 questions from different areas.
